Special thanks to Raymond Lee Wai Chung for writing and translating this walk through section. BEGINNING Time is A.D. 1000. Chrono's mother wakes him up. His mother says that there is a 1000 year Carnival in Reene Square. When Chrono gets up and walk down the stairs, his mother says that Luka, a young scientist next door, has invited something & urges Chrono to see it. She also give him some money. YEAR 1000 CARNIVAL Entering the Reene Square, you'll see a traditional scene of carnivals: Lots of games, people, etc. are there. The Square can be divided into 5 parts. (1) When you enter (2) The Reene Bell (3) A singing robot [if you beat it, it'll give you 15 Silver Points] (4) Pre-historic dances [Pressing X, Y, L & R will make the characters dance] (5) Luka's invention Entering the Reene Bell, Chrono hits with a girl. A pendant drops out. The girl is finding it. Chrono picked it up & gives it to the girl. The girl says that she is bored, and asked Chrono whether he can accompany with her. You choose yes, she'll tell Chrono her name - Marl. Go to the various corners of the carnival. After some time, Marl will suggest Chrono to see the invention of Luka. Luka's invention is a teleporting device (like the one in THE FLY). Chrono tries it, and it does succeed. Now it's Marl's turn. When the device is opened, Marl's pendant glows. A black hole sucks her into it, leaving the pendant on the device. Luka & Chrono decide to get her back. Chrono enters the black hole with the pendant. Luka says that she'll follow him later. YEAR ???? After the teleportation, Chrono is in a mountain, surrounded by little monsters (easy job). Chrono gets out of the mountain, and visit the nearest town - Tolus. The people there say that Chrono is in A.D. 600, 400 years back. When you get into the motel there, you can find a traveler called Doma. He'll tell you that Princess of Galdia is being caught. To enter Galdia, you should first pass the forest. The monsters there are easy to manage. Entering Galdia, Chrono is stopped by the guards. Later the Princess (face like Marl) lets you come in. Chrono follows her, and she is really Marl. Suddenly, she is disappeared. Chrono goes downstairs, and finds Luka. She reveals the real identity of Marl : Marl's real name is Marldia, the Princess of Galdia in A.D. 1000. Now, in A.D. 600, the Princess Reene is being caught. If Reene is killed, Marl would also disappear. You have to save Princess Reene. MANORIA MISSIONARY Entering the Missionary, you'll find some nuns praying. Luka dis- covers that they're actually monster, and you have to beat them. Suddenly, a frog suddenly jumps in and help you. His name is, again, Frog (Japanese name is Kaeru, which means Frog). Play the organ there, a door will be opened. There's nothing special inside the Missionary, you only have to switch on all the switches. At the end, you'll see Reene and the Minister. Reene will leave back to Galdia, while you have to fight with the Minister (fraud, of course). Chrono & Frog's 2-person Blitz is useful here. After beating the boss, you open the two boxes. One of them has the real Minister inside. Going back to Galdia, the King and Princess will thank you. Frog will leave you then. You go back to Reene's room, and Marl is here. Now it's time back home. I'M HOME, ...... Going back to the mountain behind Tolus, you'll see the black hole again. Luka use her new device to open the black hole, and they're then all back to the Carvinal. Luka will go back to her home, and Marl will go back to Galdia with Chrono. When Marl & Chrono enter Galdia, Chrono is immediately caught by the guards. The Minister alleged Chrono of kidnapping the Princess. A trial begins. Chrono have to answer 3 questions. Whether Chrono is guilty depends on what you've answer. If Chrono's not guilty, he'll be sentenced to prison for 3 days. If Chrono's guilty, he'll be sentenced to death. Chrono is in a jail room. He knocks the gate & arouse attention. The guard opens the gate, and Chrono fight out. GREAT ESCAPE It's easy to finish this part, because you'll get some potions once you've beaten a guard. You can find a boy under a guillotine. If you save him, the boy will say that he's working in the armor shop near your home. Reaching the entrance of the prison, Luka will help you. They want to leave the prison, but are stopped by a mechanic dragon. You have to follow a sequence : the head first, then the wheel, and then the body. When the dragon is down, Chrono and Luka are being chased by other guards. Marl stops the guards, and decides to follow you. You're forced to go into a corner of the Forest of Galdia. There's a time gate there! The three enters the gate. THE FUTURE - FULL OF RUMBLES At the other end of the gate, there's a sealed door at one end, and the exit to the other end (Don't border this door, you're not going to open it until you've finished two- third of the story). There are some domes on the grounds, and lots of rubbles of buildings. Entering one of them (Tran Dome), you'll see people inside. They'll tell you it's A.D. 2300. A catastrophe seems to have happened. You can make a rest inside the Air Box. Then go to Rubble 16. Don't touch with the rats there, as they'll steal your items. There's no boss there. Reaching the other end of the Rubble, you'll see a dome and an entrance to the drainage system. Forget the drainage system now, as you'll find nothing at the other end. [At the other end, you can find a Watcher's Dome. An old man, Gash, and a strange creature are there. There's also a sealed door. Also you can find the Death Mountain. You can't enter into it, as you'll be flowed out by the strong wind.] Entering the dome there (Aris Dome), the people will want you to find food for them. There's a ladder to the underground. You go down, and find some switches there. Forget them now, and go to the other side. You'll encounter the boss inside a small room. The boss is a giant robot, with 2 small spheres. Attack the 2 spheres first, because, otherwise, it'll counter attack. Beating the robot, you'll find a man, nearly dead. There's a packet of seeds on his hand. You pick it up, and he'll tell you to chase the cat outside. Dash with B-Button and catch it with A-button. You'll reveal the code for the switches: Holding L & R and pressing A. JUDGMENT DAY There is no boss at the other side. At the end, there is a computer. Luka presses some buttons, and it tells you where another time gate is. Marl also presses some buttons, and the monitor displays the information about RAVO'S DAY (I better call it Judgment Day like T2) DAY - A.D. 1999 SCENE - A big monster, Ravos, comes out of the earth. The lava splashes out, and hits the buildings on ground. Marl is shocked by the scene. Then they decide to save the earth. Coming out of the underground, a girl will give you a car key. MOTOR RACING Leaving the dome, you enter Rubble 32. A robot there tells you that he'll let you pass the Rubble if you can beat him in motor racing. Racing time now (of course it's not Daytona). You have 3 Nitros in each race. I recommend using 1 Nitro when you have about 50 to 70 kilos left. Passing the Rubble, you'll go to when the time gate is (Promete Dome). There's a robot inside, and the door to the time gate is locked. Luka repairs the robot, and she succeeds. The party gives it a name - ROBO (its real name is very long - like Cyberdyne Systems Model 101). Robo tells you that the power is down. It has to repair the system. You should then leave Luka or Malu in the dome. REMAINS OF THE FACTORY There are 2 wings inside. Go to the right one first. You'll find some important information inside: Code to open the last gate : X A B Y Code to remove barrels : X A and B B For the left wing, you have to beat the monsters at the floor of the save point first before going. Entering the code for the last gate, Robo will try to repair the system. However, the system is alerted. The party leaves the factory, but is stopped by Robo's friends (also robots - totally 6 of them). They beat Robo, and throw it outside. You then have to beat them. After that, Chrono will pull Robo back to the dome. Robo is repaired, and the gate is also opened. The four enters the gate, and ...... THE END OF TIME ...... they're at a strange place. Nothing's inside. Only an old man, sleeping under a lamp post, is there. You wake him up, and he'll tell you here's the End of Time. You'll be here when more than 3 people enters the time gate. You'll have to leave one here. Then go to the room. A very cute monster is there (it's not Moogle like FF3). It's the God of Battles. He'll teach you magic if you, starting from the door, circle him 3 times clockwise, touching the 4 corners. After that, you'll have magic: CHRONO - Sky Magic LUKA - Fire Magic MARL - Ice Magic ROBO - No Magic Finishing that, you can now leave the End of Time. There's 3 time gates: A.D. 1000 - The monster's village A.D. 2300 - Where you came from B.C. 65M - Mysterious Mountain Continuing the game, you should go to A.D. 1000 [After getting out, you can press Y to change your party] THE MONSTER VILLAGE (Medeena) The party comes out from a cupboard. The little monster in the house tells you that there is a cave on the west. Near the cave, you'll find Bosh's house. Remember this place, as you'll need it some time later. Only magical attacks can work on the monsters inside the cave. Passing the save point, you'll meet the boss. If it says "Eat me!" (sort of), don't attack it as it'll counterattack. Before it dies, it says that Ravos was born 400 years old. Leaving the cave, you'll be near Luka's home. If you go back to Chrono's home, his mother is surprised since she thinks that you're dead. If you go to Armor Shop, the boy there will thank you. Now back to business. Go back to 1000 year carnival, and enter the time gate there. Passing the End of Time, go to A.D. 600. SEARCHING FOR FROG The Zenan Bridge there is repaired. The soldiers of Galdia there says that they have no food and can't fight with the Devil Soldiers. Go back to Galdia and talk to the chef there, and he'll give you the food. Giving the food to the soldier, they'll let you pass the bridge. You'll face a boss at the other end of the boss. It has 2 parts: The top should be dealt by Ice Magic, while the top should be dealt by Fire Magic. Passing the bridge, you'll see 2 villages: Sandorino and Palepoly. There is a forest near Palepoly. Enter the forest, and, at the end, you'll find Frog. He does not want to join you. He wants to find back the Sword: Grad-Leon. Going to Sandorino, and the people there will tell you that the sword is lying on the Denadro Mountain. MOUNT DENADRO The party finds a kid (with a sword and armor) running into the mountain (it's of no importance in the story). The journey is quite long, but the monsters are quite easy to defeat (especially if Luka is in the party). At the end, there will be 2 aliens inside. They'll ask you whether you want the Grad-Leon sword or not. Surely, you choose yes. They'll then fight you (a test). At first, once you beat one of them, they will counter attack. At a certain time, they will then fuse together (like Goten and Trucks, or Gokou and Vegeta of Dragon Ball). Then their powers would be increased. After you beat them, they'll give you the broken sword. There is also a water pool that allows a short cut out of the mountain. Once you have the sword, go back to the frog's living area in the forest. Find the other part of the sword. Luka then reads the text on it: "Bosh" [Bosh lives in the monster village in 1000 A.D.! Why? Stay tuned]. Then they go to 1000 A.D. to find Bosh. Once they find Bosh, Bosh tells you that without the Red Stone, he cannot repair the sword. The party then goes to the wild world: 65,000,000 B.C. 65,000,000 B.C. [Jurassic Park, isn't it?] When the party comes out of the time gate, they find a lot of dinosaur-men. First they'll have to fight 4 of them. After that, 7 other dinosaur-men will appear. Suddenly, a woman, running like a leopard, saves them; she is Eira. She invites you all to her village. That night, there is a welcoming party. When Chrono talks to Eira, she says that she has the Red Stone, and that she'll give it to you if you drink faster than she does (it's easy; just press A continuously). After the party, the party just sleeps on the ground. Then Luka finds that the device used to open the time gate is missing (thus they can't get back). The party wakes Eira up, and she'll go with you to find it. Going to the jungle on the south, Keeno (a man in the village) tells you that the dinosaur-men stole the device. You'll have to go through the jungle, and into the dinosaur-men cave. In the cave, you'll find that Chrono's magic is very useful (most monsters are afraid of thunder). When you fight the boss, you should first use thunder to weaken the defense power of the boss (otherwise, it only loses 20 HP on each and every attack). Remember: always check your HP. The boss's thunder attack can cost you 150 HP each. After that, you'll get back the time portal device. Then, go back to 1,000 A.D. Bring back the stone to Bosh. Then, Bosh and Luka together will repair the sword. After that, you can give the sword back to the frog. The frog, Kaeru, is surprised when he sees the sword. Then he'll invite you all to stay overnight. At that night, Kaeru remembers what happened 10 years ago. The frog's real name is Kren. His best friend, Saires, was a knight of the Kingdom of Galdia. Saires was the original owner of the sword. He used it to defeat monsters. One time, he was fighting the Devil, but was defeated. Kren was then turned into a frog. In the morning, Kaeru says that you should go to the castle of the Devil. You will then help the Frog. [Before going to the castle, remember to bring Kaeru to the infinity time zone. The God of War there will teach Kaeru how to use magic]. The party goes to the Devil Rock (east of Dritelo). Kaeru will use his sword to open a cave. After passing the cave, you'll find the Devil's castle. [Before going, remember to well purchase yourself: 99 potions (HP +50), and 99 medium portions (HP +200), etc.] DEVIL'S CASTLE There are 2 wings inside the Castle. At first, you'll find nothing stranger inside. After passing the two wings, you can find something like a save point. You go in, and things change. Vinegar (1 of the 3 sub-bosses of the Devil; looks like Majin Buu of DBZ but with 1 eye only) would come out. Some monsters comes out. After beating them, go to 1 of the wings, and you'll find 1 sub-boss in each section. On the right side, you'll find Mayonee. He's a man dressing like in a woman! He's quite hard to beat, since he always uses poison, confuse, etc. On the left side, you'll find Soysor. There are 3 stages fighting with him. 1. Nothing out of the ordinary. 2. He takes the sword on the wall. Don't use magic now. 3. He'll counterattack. Remember to check your HP. [Of course, after fighting, you can go out & have a good sleep]. After beating Soysor and Mayonee, you can go to the center part of the castle. I'll not going to tell much about there, because it's so long. You always chase with Vinegar, but he always flees. There are many traps during the journey, so do take care. At last, Vinegar would then fight you. First, he'll turn himself to a stone. Don't attack him! Attack the chains on the side instead. After breaking the chains, a trap would be opened. For the last chain, the trap hits Vinegar, and he falls down a hole. (A strange way to beat a boss, huh!) Then, after saving, the party finds the Devil (Jackie). "The black wind is weeping" is his motto. Super- boss time now (I used 20 minutes). At first, attack him with the right magic (fire, water, heaven, or death). Since his magic is very powerful, so do check your HP constantly. Later, his defense power is weakened. Fight him with the strongest magic, but also check your HP since he'll now use the Ultimate Death Magic (cost you HP 250 each). Then, suddenly, there is a time gate. You, together with the Devil, are sucked into it. Dream: The scene is like that at the opening of the game, except that Malu wakes you up instead of your mother. Eira wakes you all up. You're in 65 million B.C. She says that they are all lying on the Mysterious Mountain, and she picked you all up. You can take a rest there. Going to the north of the village, you'll find Eira talking with an old man. She says that many people were caught by the dinosaur-men, and she wants to save them. The old man tries to stop her, because it is very dangerous. You then help her, and go get the flying dinosaurs (on the mountain in the north of the village). After getting the flying dinosaurs, you can go to Tilan Castle. TILAN CASTLE There are two entrances at the beginning: one is open, one is closed. Go to the opened one, and save Keeno. He will then open the other entrance for you. At the end of the castle, you'll find Azaad (king of the dinosaur-men) and a giant monster. Bring Luka before the battle, as her fire magic is useful here. After the battle, you'll see a meteor falling towards the castle. Azaad says that it is Lavos, and tells you to go away quickly. Eira will save you by riding the flying dinosaurs. The meteor strikes the castle, leaving a big crater. You enter the crater, and there's a time gate! Entering the time gate, you'll be in 12,000 B.C. ANCIENT CIVILIZATION Once you leave the time gate, you'll find some strange buildings on surface. Entering the building, you'll be transported to the sky. There is a sky kingdom (like Laputa), consisting of 3 cities. The first city is Hansaad. It is a laboratory of dreams. When you enter there, you'll find a kid, saying "The black wind is weeping", and leaves. The second city is of no importance. The last city is Jeen, the magic kingdom. There are 3 chambers. Going to the right one, you'll find that kid, named Jackie, and his sister, Sara. Sara goes to see her mother, the empress. She enters the door (at the central chamber) with a pendant (like the one Malu has). You try to enter, but fail. Go to a special machine on the left chamber [sorry, I can't really translate that to English. In Japanese, it is Ma-jin-ki], and put your pendant there. It glows and something happens, go to the door again, only this time the door opens! Inside there is the empress, Dalton (who's he, stay tuned), the praise, and Sara. Soon after you enter, a monster is teleported there, and it fights you. It's quite difficult to beat, since its physically attack can cost you 400 HP. To avoid that, use thunder magic (the monster mimics your type of attack, so DO NOT USE ANY PHYSICAL ATTACKS). The ending is the same whether you beat it or not, because at the end, you'll still be jailed by the empress. Sara saves you, and then you'll be expelled from 12,000 B.C. She also puts a seal on the time portal, so that you cannot return to 12,000 B.C. Going back to 65 million B.C., the party remembers that there are several secret doors in 2,300 A.D. Now they want to open them. (Actually there are 3 such doors in 2,300 A.D. There are treasures in the other 2 doors). GETTING THE TIME MACHINE Before going to the Watcher's Dome, you have to pass an underground drainage system. The frogs there will guide you through it. Do not touch any rubbish, the cat, or even the save point there, because monsters will come out once you touch them. There's a "boss" there, but it's very easy to defeat (with your level, you can surely manage it). After getting out, you'll find the Watcher's Dome. Previously, there was a man living in there, called Gash (his face looks like Bosh). However, when you're there, Gash is dead. Instead, a strange-looking creature is inside. You opened the secret door, and you'll find the time machine. The strange creature comes in, and says that he is Gash's thoughts. He'll teach you how to use the machine. You can name it (default name is Silvard). When you turn it on, you can choose which time period you want to go to: 1. 65,000,000 B.C. [Jurassic Park] 2. 12,000 B.C. [Ancient Civilization] 3. 600 A.D. [Middle Age] 4. 1,000 A.D. [Modern] 5. 1,999 A.D. [Judgement Day] 6. 2,300 A.D. [Future] 7. Infinity time zone Note that the time machine can't fly. Continuing the game, you should go to 12,000 B.C. THE FLOATING MOUNTAIN Getting back to 12,000 B.C., you'll find another cave. People then lives in caves (modern stone age families, huh?). People there say that there is a way to the floating mountain beneath their cave, but there are full of rhinos there. Passing the save-point, you'll find rhinos in another cave. Their power is great, so kill them quickly. At the end of the cave, you'll find 2 rhinos (1 is red, 1 is blue: I think you should know what's the best way to beat them) and a monster driving them. Kill the 2 rhinos first, and then the monster. After that, climb on a chain to the floating mountain. There are 2 save points in the mountain. At the top of the mountain, you'll find the boss. It's quite difficult to defeat, since its action is faster and its power is great. Malu's speed-up magic is useful here. Beat its 2 hands first, and then the main body. After that, Bosh comes out. He wonders why you know him. Bosh tells you that the empress wants to revive Lavos in the Under-water Temple. You have to stop her. Bosh gives you a red knife (it can stop Lavos from reviving). Sara also comes in, and urges you to stop her mother. At this time, Dalton comes in, and captures Sara. The next destination is Jeen. THE UNDER-WATER TEMPLE Going to the central chamber of Jeen, you'll have to fight against Dalton. After some time, he'll leave the chamber. There's a beam of light inside, which leads you to the Under-water Temple. It's a long road towards the end of the Temple, so do change people often. There are also 2 save- points in the temple: one at the beginning, and one at the end. Before going to the end of temple, be sure that Chrono gains the ultimate heaven magic: Shining (costs you 20 MP); it makes it much easier to defeat the boss. The bosses there is the one you met at the first visit to Jeen. Now there are 2 of them instead. Use Chrono's Shining to attack them, and use the other 2 persons to maintain your HP. After about 6 rounds, they'll be destroyed. The party continues on the path, and finds the empress, the praise, and Sara there. You use the red knife to stop Lavos, but it's too late. You're in another dimension. The enemy is Lavos. Its first attack costs you 1,000 HP each. The party is down. Then, suddenly, the Devil comes in. His magic power is sucked by Ravos, and is also down. Chrono stands up first. He used his remaining power to save all the people (the other 2 persons in your party, the Devil, and Sara). Chrono dies there. The remaining people leaves the temple. Lavos revives. Its energy is massive, and the Sky City is destroyed. There's a tsunami, and nearly all land is beneath the sea. The remaining party goes to the Remining Village, but is then captured by Dalton. BLACK BIRD When the party wakes up, they find that all their belongings (weapons, items and money) are stolen. You go out & discover that you're inside a big air plane - The Black Bird. When going back, you'll discover that you can go inside the ventilation system. Inside the system, you can peek what's happening under you. Go & find back your weapons, items and money first (enemies there can be dealt with easily). (I recommend taking Eira with you, since she can't have her weapon taken from her). At the time, the party discovers that Dalton has taken the time machine and wants to add wings to the machine (so that it can fly). After getting back all your belongings, go to the wing of the plane. You'll find the first boss there. If you're fast enough, it won't attack you. As soon as you've beaten the first boss, the time- machine modification is completed. Dalton drives the machine out. You jump onto the machine, and fight Dalton. After that, press the Y button. A beam of laser fires from the time machine, and the Black Bird gets blown out of the sky. Getting down the time machine, you go to the north of the Remining Village. The Devil is there. He'll tell you about what happened before Chrono arrived at Temple: The three ministers of the Kingdom: Bosh, Gash, and Hash try hard to stop the empress from reviving Lavos, but failed. When Lavos wakes up, they're teleported to different periods of time: Bosh to 1,000 A.D.; Gash to 2,300 A.D.; and Hash to the Infinity time zone. At that moment, Jackie comes in, and he's also teleported to A.D. 600. He's met by Vinegar and some other monsters. (Jackie is actually the Devil). There's an option whether you'll fight with him. Remember: choose NO. If you choose yes, you'll beat him and he'll die. If you choose no, he'll join you. Getting back to the time machine, a UFO-like craft appears. It is the Black Dream. You can enter proceed there, but you have more important things to do: like getting back Chrono. Press Y while driving the time machine, you can again choose the time you want to go. Go to the Infinity Time Zone, and talk with the old man there. He'll give you an egg-shaped device: the Chrono Trigger. It's used to stop the time. The old man (really Hash) at the Watcher's Dome in 2,300 A.D says that you should talk to a person who likes carnivals. GETTING BACK CHRONO Carnivals ... That means the 1000 A.D. carnival! Go to the Ghost House there. A ghost inside will tell you that there's a puppet of Chrono for sale. He demands 40 silver points. If you don't have enough, go to fight with the robot there (easy this time), and each time it'll give you 15 silver points. Also, you will have to play a game with the ghost. You will have to mimic everything the Chrono replica does. (L to raise left hand, R to raise right hand, Y to laugh, and A for surprised response). Paying the points, the ghost will send the puppet to Chrono's home. Collect the puppet there, and go back to 2,300 A.D. Again, go to the Watcher's Doom then. The strange creature (who has the thoughts of Gash) will suggest that you go to Death Mountain. Because it's very windy there, he'll make a tree for you to hide out the winds. He'll also release 3 puppets to guide you through Death Mountain. The first puppet tells you to stay behind trees to avoid being blown off the mountain, the second doll tells you that the ledge is slippery, and the third doll tells you to use the Lavos like creature's shell to go higher. There are 3 Lavos like creatures there. Their attack power is great (just attack their head), so do watch your HP. Reaching the top of mountain, the party (bring Malu there; there'll be something special) uses the Chrono Trigger. They'll reach the scene when Chrono saves the entire party (time is stopped). The party exchanges the real Chrono with the Chrono replica. Then Chrono is saved. Go back to the Infinite Time Zone, the old man will tell you some things to do before going to Black Dream or to the Judgement Day. - Turning a desert into a forest. - The place where Robo is born. - The tomb of Saires (Kaeru's friend). - The rainbow shell & the emperor on trial. - The Solar Temple & the Solar Stone. - Vinegar, Soysor, and Mayone. After saving Chrono, you can have 6 tasks to do before going to the Black Dream or fighting with Ravos. The following tasks are ordered in their relative ease. It is NOT a required order, so you can finish them by your order. 1. SAIREN'S TOMB [FROG should be in your party] When you talk to Frog in the End of Time, he'll tell you when the tomb is. Go to the tomb in AD 600 (REMEMBER : Don't go to the one in AD 1000, as you'll meet an undefeatable boss). However, you discover that it is seriously damaged. You should firstly go to the village nearby. Go to the bar there, and talk with the people. One of them can do the repair, but he needs the Big Tool Box. Go to the same bar in AD 1000, and, again, talk with the people. One of them will tell you to get the Box in his home. After getting the Box, go back to AD 600. He'll do to repair. Because there are monsters inside, he'll not do all the repair until the monsters are cleared. After each repair, clear the monsters and go back for the next repair (you'll have to do that 3 times). When you find the tomb, Frog's GRAD-LEON Sword would be upgraded. Inside you'll also find the best weapon for Marl. 2. THE RAINBOW SHELL & THE KING BEING TRIED [MARL should be in your party for the second part of the story] The rainbow shell is located on a small island in AD 600. It is actually the remains of the Tilan Castle. The boss there is the same as that in Tilan Castle in BC 65M. After beating the boss, you'll get the Shell. Since it is too heavy for you, you ask for Galdia's help. The King would order soldiers to collect the Shell, and have it stored inside Galdia. Now go to Galdia in AD 1000. The guards there tells you that the King is tried for losing the Shell. Marl would order the guards to get way for you to the court. However, when you enter the courtroom, you're refused by the Minister. Go downstairs from the court, and you'll find a new wing. Enter the new wing, and passing the long corridor, you'll find the Shell. Bring the shell back to the courtroom. The Minister was shocked. Actually it is the boss you've beaten in the Missionary in AD 600, but it is stronger. After beating the boss, Bosh will enter Galdia. He says he'll make 3 helmets (protecting you from all abnormal status) or 1 suit (for ladies only. Its defense power is great) by the Shell (you can only choose one of them). After making your choice, he'll make your required items. He also says "Come to see me if you get the Solar Stone". 3. VINEGAR AS THE NEW DEVIL MASTER When you talk to Jacky (the Devil Master) at the End of Time, he'll show you a place in AD 600. Get into there, and you'll find Vinegar. Again, he'll always run away. Chase him as usual. In the middle you'll find Mayoone and Soysor blocking you. Dealing with them is now very easy. After "beating" Mayoona & Soysor, you can find a treasure box under a guillotine-like thing (driven by Vinegar). Don't be greedy now, or you'll lose all your HP (You should get it after finishing the story). At the end, you'll find Mayoona, Soysor & Vinegar together. Boss time now. Remember: Don't use magic that hits all of the 3, or you'll receive their mighty counterattack. Attack Mayoone and Soysor 1-by-1 first, and then deal with Vinegar. After some time, he'll run away again. At the end of it, Vinegar will, again, convert himself to a block of ice. Don't attack him, and hit the switch nearby. After that, you'll be fallen into his trap. Get out of the trap, and go to find Vinegar again. A cat coming in triggers one of the switches, and Vinegar is hit. There's nothing special in this story. Just finish it anyway. 4. TURNING DESERT TO FOREST [Bring either Jacky or Marl for the second part, and Robo for the third part] Go to BC 15K. Fly to the square in the one-and-only village. A women will ask you a question (I've forgotten what she asked). Choose the lower answer, and fly to AD 600. There is a whirl on the desert. Go inside the whirl. Monsters there are afraid of Ice Magic, so bring Jacky or Marl to there. The boss are quite difficult to beat. Use Ice Magic first to weaken its defense power (or, even if your mightiest attack, can't hit it) before attacking it. After beating the boss, get outside the whirl. There is a small house in the middle of the desert. Entering the house, you'll find a girl, Fiona. She says that she need help to convert the desert into a forest. Robo will help her, and it'll stay in AD 600. Fly to AD 1000. The same house becomes the Fiona Missionary. Collect Robo inside. At night, everyone is sitting beside a campfire. Luka repairs Robo. When everybody is sleeping, Luka wakes up. She finds a time gate, and she enters into it. She finds herself inside her home, but the year is AD 990. Getting outside of her room, she finds her mother and her (a kid). There is an accident during an experiment. Luka's mother, Lala, breaks her leg. Luka has to input a password to stop the machine [By the way, if you know what the code is, please tell me!] After this scene, Luka gets back to AD 1000. Robo is waiting for Luka. Robo is fully repaired, and he'll give you a ring: Once you're dead you'll rise again, but it can be used only once. Sorry I've written this part badly. I'm lazy translating all the Japanese in this story. 5. ROBO'S BIRTHPLACE Talking to Robo in the End of Time, it'll tell you where it is made. Entering the factory, and the mainframe there always calls Robo its original name: PROMETUS. Robo feels that the mainframe is infected (by Michelangelo?). Finishing this story is rather complicated (you have to finish 4 tasks. The clues can be found by pressing the computer inside), but I think you can surely manage to finish it. After finishing the 4 tasks, Robo will meet its friend after passing the save. Its friend is also infected, and it hits Robo. This time, you only can use Robo to beat it. After beating its friend, you can go to the mainframe room. The boss there is accompanied by 3 computers (they maintain the boss's HP). Use some mighty 3-person blitzes to deal with the computers first, and then to the boss itself. After that, Robo will get its mightiest weapon, and the factory is sealed. 6. SOLAR TEMPLE & SOLAR STONE Talking to Luka in the End of Time, and she'll tell you where the Solar Temple is (in a small island in AD 2300). But, before going there, go to BC 65M first. Go to the Ioka Village (Eira's village), and an old man says he can some good stuffs for sale. You should get 10 Feather, 10 Crawl, 10 Shell and 10 Horn for the barter (You can get these thing when you beat the monsters in BC 65M). The stuff - an armor that cuts your Fire damage to 1/5 (Very useful when you enter Solar Temple). The boss in the Temple looks like a big eye, with 5 pieces of frame surrounding it. Equip your party with the above armor first. Don't use magic, since it is useless. Beating the boss requires a little luck: Hit one of the 5 frames. If the Eye is hurt, that's it. Since the frames will change its position after some time, so I wish you all good luck (that's why I recommend you to get the armor in BC 65M first). After beating the boss, the big eye would be converted into a stone - the Dark Stone. Get the stone to the Light Cave in BC 65M, and place the stone under sunlight. Fly to the same cave in AD 1000, and you find that the stone is stolen. Fly around AD 1000, and you'll find a house very special (with a lot of light coming out). When asking for the stone, the people denies taking it. Go to the restaurant in the same village (with a monster playing piano), and talk to the chef there. He says he has a Super- Delicious Dish for sale (Price is $9990). Buy the Dish, and fly to the same family in AD 600. The people inside are surprised, and say they would pay $10,000 for the Dish. Remember: DON'T ASK FOR MONEY. After that, they will tell their sons & daughters not to be greedy. Fly back to the family in AD 1000. The people will immediately give you back the stone. Bring the stone back to the cave, and get it back in AD 2300. Collect the Solar Stone with Luka. She will make her mightiest weapon (a very strange weapon: sometimes it strikes 50 HP, sometimes 3000 HP!) Bring the Stone to Galdia in AD 1000. Talk to Bosh in the new wing, and he'll make Chrono's mightiest weapon - RAINBOW (Critical Attack 70%) Next time - The Black Dream & Ravos VI. Miscellaneous questions/answers: Q: By which company is Chrono Trigger made by? A: The game is made by Square Co. Ltd. of Japan, and will later be translated into english by Square Soft Inc. based in the United States. Q: What is the game size of Chrono Trigger? A: The game is 32 megabits. Q: Who are the main people behind the making of Chrono Trigger? A: There are 3 main people that are the driving force behind the making of Chrono Trigger. They include Hironubu Sakaguchi of Final Fantasy, Yuji Horii (script writer of Dragon Quest), and Akira Toriyama the anime artist of Dragon Ball. Q: Is the story line in Chrono Trigger linear? A: Yes and no. It is linear in the sense that in first half of the game, you can only go one direction, and proceed to the next. However, the game is extremely confusing in the sense that time traveling is a major part of the story. The second half of the game, is completely non-linear. It is also unnecessary to complete the non-linear portions of the game. Q: Then what are the non-linear portions of the game for? A: Please note that there are over 10 different endings for Chrono Trigger. Each depending on what you have done or completed in the game. Q: How do you get all the different endings? A: After you have completed the game for the first time, you have an option of starting a "stronger new game". Starting this new game, you basically start a new game, but with all the previous items and experience. At this time, you may finish the game any time you wish. Depending when you decide to finish the game, you'll get a different ending. Q: How long does it take to finish Chrono Trigger? A: This depends on the skill of the RPG player. It should roughly take 20 to 30 hours to complete basically everything in the story line. However, it is not necessary to complete the entire story. It is possible to finish the game virtually any time you wish; once you have access and when you are capable to. Q: How is the music in Chrono Trigger? A: This is strictly an opinion. Let's just say that it is quite good, and is comparable to Final Fantasy III. Some tunes may be better, some maybe worse. Again, this is just an opinion. Please note that the music composer of Final Fantasy III is also involved with the music for Chrono Trigger. Let's just say Square Co. Ltd. has a good reputation for making good music for their RPGs. Q: How good are the graphics in Chrono Trigger? A: Nice, very nice! For the most part, it is much better compared to Final Fantasy III. Chrono Trigger graphics are done quite evenly. Meaning that you don't have parts that are real good, and parts that are real bad (like in Final Fantasy III). Overall, the graphics are superior to Final Fantasy III. However, in my opinion, some small parts of Final Fantasy III graphics are better than Chrono Trigger; it's probably due to cartridge size limitations. Q: How are the battle sequences done? A: It is a combination of Secret of Mana, and Final Fantasy III. It is a command driven fighting sequence like the Final Fantasy series. It is also possible to choose between "active" or "wait" battle modes; it is chosen when you start a new game. Chrono Trigger is like Secret of Mana because of the method of how enemies appear. You see the enemies on screen, if you run into the enemy, a battle menu appears, and you fight on scene; there is no shifting to another background (like the Final Fantasy series). It is also possible to avoid fighting these enemies, by running and by avoiding them. Q: How are the magic spells used? A: You are capable of casting single character spells, like Final Fantasy III. But you can also perform "team" spells. These team spells, can involve 2 or 3 characters casting a certain spell. (Please note that some options aren't really magic, it is more like a special attack). Q: What are those music boxes that I find all over the place? A: They aren't really music boxes. These boxes are treasure boxes that are sealed magically. You may open them once you have the magical pendant. With the magical pendant, you can "transform" these treasure boxes into armor or weapons.
